Ilkka Lähdesmäki was born in Finland in 1967. He got his college degree in Chemical Engineering at Abo Akademi University (Turku, Finland) in 1993, and started his graduate career under prof. Ari Ivaska’s supervision. Later, he transferred to the University of Washington (Seattle, WA, USA) to work with prof. Jarda Ruzicka, leading to a Ph.D. degree in 1999. After holding post-doctoral positions, he joined Schering Oy in 2002, working on chromatographic method development and validation. In 2005, he moved back to Seattle to take a position as a research scientist at the University of Washington. Since 2010, he has been general manager and chief scientist at FIAlab Instruments. He coauthored Chapter 4 of this Tutorial.
Petr Chocholous was born in Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia) in 1980. He got his college degree in Faculty of Pharmacy at Charles University (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic) in 2003, and started his graduate career under prof. Petr Solich’s supervision. Petr obtained his Ph.D. in 2006. In 2007, he transferred to the University of Washington (Seattle, WA, USA) for six months as part of the research group of prof. Jarda Ruzicka. In years 2008-2010 held post-doctoral position at Charles University. Since 2011, he has been a assistant professor and research scientist at the Charles University. His main scientific interest is development of chromatographic methods and related flow techniques. He cooperates with Department of Oceanography University of Hawaii and with FIAlab Instruments. He coauthored Chapter 4 of this Tutorial.
